چکیده
Etiologically, characterization of type of diabetes (Type I, II) based on serum Cpeptide content provides elaborate distinctive characteristics. The beta cell reserve as measured by C-peptide relates to the metabolic profile of diabetes. In pre-manifest Type I diabetes basal C-peptide may be normal and reduced only in the immediate post stimulating phase. In malnutrition related diabetes, C-peptide reserve is preserved and ketosis does not develop.
